​Getting Out Stains

​Stains are going to happen, no matter how careful you are with the carpets. The good news is, most stains can be removed if they’re cleaned up as soon as they happen. If something does spill on the carpet, use a clean washcloth or paper towel and blot at the spill. Never rub, as this can push the stain deeper into the carpet, making it harder to remove. Remember, time is of the essence. The sooner you go to work on the stain the better your chances of removing it. Get us involved, we'll get right to work on it!

Knowing the type of fabric you are trying to remove a stain from is an important component of combating the stain. There are many types of fabrics out there along with hybrids of those fabrics but we will focus on three which make up most of what's in your home or office.

• Wool- Believe it or not, wool is more delicate than cotton. You can not continuously wash wool and expect it to hold up long-term.
• Cotton- Probably the most common fabric in your home or office. Very durable. Can take on many bouts of washing & cleaning with either cold or hot water. Easily the most treatable fabric to remove a stain from.
• Synthetic- Examples would be nylon, polyester, acrylic, rayon. Very tricky to remove stains from these. Best left to the professionals (us).

If the spilled liquid is stubborn and the color is not coming up, spray it with a gentle cleanser and then resume blotting. If the stain is already dry by the time you notice it, spraying it with a gentle cleaner and blotting can help remove it. However, if there are any stains that do not come up completely, have a professional carpet cleaner handle the remover. We can get rid of the stain for you without worry about damaging the carpet.
